Fighting Corruption; A sellable Promise to our Youths!
As Youths, one of the things we need to learn is being part of the process that will bring good Governance and responsible leadership in our society.
.
I was having an interesting conversation with Mr Sega on Twitter concerning Economy and Politics involved in Nigeria. It was very clear from all he said that Nigerian Politicians use "Key words" that are "sellable" to youths but makes no sense to them as Adults/Old men just to Rule!
.
It will be very difficult to stop buying to their ideas as the current political structure and System of Government in the country makes it practically impossible for us to stop seeing these ideas in the market.
.
Take a good look at foreign Politics and campaigns, nobody uses "fighting corruption, provision of Water, Electricity and roads" as parts of his/her campaign promises to the people. They focus on Security and Policies. They are very sure that good Policies give birth to good Economy, increased electricity supply and provision of infrastructures like roads, hospitals and good schools.
.
Fighting Corruption don't form part of their campaign promises because that is a constitutional requirement for a seating President, Governor or Chairman to do.
.
Here in Nigeria, since they know all we want to hear is "fight corruption", it becomes a sellable statement and promise but when they get to the office, they become part of the corruption we need to fight.
